MAST participants can study for a semester in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences. The University of Minnesota is a top ranked institution with internationally-renowned faculty and researchers.

A variety of courses are offered on a rotating basis in the following disciplines: Agronomy and Plant Genetics, Animal Science, Applied Economics, Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, Entomology, Environmental Sciences, Food Sciences and Nutrition, Forest Resource, Horticultural Science, Plant Pathology, and Soil Water and Climate. MAST International also offers courses in English, Farm and Business Management, and Journalism/Yearbook.

The academic experience is offered at a reduced tuition rate ($1,500), making it affordable for most participants. The tuition does not include housing and other living expenses during the program. Semesters begin in January and September.

While the study program is optional, MAST participants are highly encouraged to participate in the academic experience after the successful completion of their practical training experience. Many MAST alumni have credited this program with academic and professional opportunities upon returning to their home countries.

Note: Interest in the academic experience MUST be indicated on the MAST International program application; it cannot be added after a visa is obtained.
