MAST has had a profound impact on my life. The experience of studying in the U.S. opened my eyes to new perspectives and opportunities that I had never considered before. The diverse cultural environment at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. This experience has significantly influenced my career path, leading me to work with One Acre Fund, an agricultural NGO in Kenya from 2019- 2024, due to the agricultural experience gained in the USA.
In addition, MAST international influenced me to pursue my ongoing MSc Degree in Natural Resources Science and Management in the Forest Resources Department (CFANS), with a Minor in Development Practice at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs (West Bank), University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. This would not be possible if I didn't participate in the Fall 2017 study program which led to the prestigious Research Assistant position 5 years later. MAST not only broadened my horizons but also instilled in me a sense of responsibility to give back to my community, through Friends of Mount Kenya Forests, a Community Based Organization where I am the President and Co-founder.
I am incredibly grateful for the MAST program and the opportunities it provided. The skills and knowledge I gained have been invaluable in my career and personal life. I encourage current and future participants to embrace the experience fully and take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow.
