Knud Jørgensen came from Frederikssund in Denmark and was placed on the Jorgensen farm in Stewartville MN.
Knud was picking rocks in the springtime and noticed the neighbor farmers two daughters working on the other side of the creek bordering the two farms. They both smiled and waved at him, and Knud wanted to invite one of the girls on a date. Uncertain about the right procedure he asked his host farmer for an advice, which he got. And the rest is like a Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tale. Knud married one of the girls, bought the farm and raised a family on the property. Later Knud and his family were wonderful hosts when my Danish Agriculture Students were on study tours to the U.S. and always stopped by to get an insight into American Agriculture business.
Knud Erik Jorgensen became an American citizen and lived on the farm in Stewartville until he passed away in the spring of 2025. Rest in peace, Knud.
