The most impactful initiative I took in my life! I was 23 years old and did not know that I was embarking in a life changing venture! I had a great host family (the Schilling's); I stayed one more year working at a U of MN research station and living/working with another great farm family (the Rohloff's) and from there I returned home to finish my ag bachelor's degree and after a few years of junior professional experience I decided to apply for a scholarship to do a Masters and a PhD at the mighty U of MN! I have been 45 years on the internal road since then and every time I face a challenge I go back to those hard few initial months of March 1976 with snow still on the ground of hard work at a small dairy family farm and reassure myself that every challenge is a great opportunity to learn!
I have returned to see my host family several times since 1976 and I am still in touch with them, it's fantastic and very emotional to see them again, I am adding a picture taken last summer
