Grow Your Skills in the USA

Whether you intern at a greenhouse, on a farm, in a research lab, or at a winery, you'll gain new skills, knowledge, and cultural experiences with the MAST International. Our program combines a practical, hands-on learning experience in agriculture or horticulture with an optional academic experience at the University of Minnesota.

The MAST experience has three main components:

Why Choose MAST International?

High Quality Placements

Our training placements are more than just a work opportunity – you will experience the entire host organization for an in-depth understanding of their operations. In addition to improving your practical skills, you will learn about business management and industry best practices, build connections with your host trainer and others in your field, and become prepared to take the next step in your career back home.

The quality of our training opportunities come from our fantastic host trainers. Our host trainers are carefully evaluated and selected by the MAST International team. Many host trainers have worked with the MAST program for years, are highly experienced, and are leaders in their industry.

In-Depth Program Information

MAST provides trainees with a detailed participant notebook that contains information about government regulations, training guidelines, visa status, health and safety, U.S. taxes, cultural adjustment, and more.

After arrival, trainees receive a comprehensive orientation. MAST provides an overview about the program, training guidelines, visa requirements, insurance and healthcare, and program support. Orientations also give the opportunity to meet the MAST staff and fellow program participants which strengthens connections throughout the program. Due to COVID, all MAST orientations are currently being conducted virtually.

MAST is focused on supporting our participants, host trainers, and country partners from making the placement through the training period in the USA. This starts with the MAST application, which guides partners and applicants through everything we require to provide trainees with a quality placement. Throughout a participant's program in the USA, we track their progress, are available for questions and concerns, conduct site visits, and provide feedback to our Country Partners.

University Study Program

Participants have the opportunity to participate in a semester of study at the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences. The University is a nationally-recognized research institution offering a full range of courses. MAST also offers specialized courses in English Language and Farm Business Management. The study program is a truly immersive American university experience - trainees live near campus, attend a full semester of courses, and engage in on-campus activities with both local and MAST students.
