Visa Qualification

To participate in the MAST program, you must qualify for a J-1 visa as a trainee or intern.

Application Process

MAST International works with a network of Country Partners around the globe. Country Partners help evaluate prospective applications, assist with applying for a U.S. visa, and may assist with travel arrangements. If we work with a partner in your country, we will refer you to them to apply. If we don’t have a partner near you, we will guide you through the application process.

Countries with MAST Partners

For countries on this list: In some countries, partners work only with applicants from a particular school or geographic area. Even if your home country is on this list, we may have you apply to the MAST program as a direct applicant.

For countries not on the list: If your home country is not on this list, please contact us to inquire about applying directly. Please note that there are some countries we cannot accept applications from due to high visa denial rates.

Selection Process

  1. If you are applying through a Country Partner, they will assess your qualifications, conduct an interview, and send your application to MAST International. If you are not applying through a Country Partner, you will send your application to MAST directly.
  2. MAST International staff members will evaluate your application. You might be contacted for additional information or an interview. This review process can take several months; please be patient awaiting a response from MAST.
  3. If it appears that you are a good fit for the program, MAST will attempt to match you with a host trainer. Host trainers review applications to select which trainees/interns they wish to host.
  4. If you are selected, you will receive information regarding the placement from MAST or your Country Partner.
  5. If you accept the placement, a package with your Training/Internship Placement Plan and documents to apply for your U.S. visa will be sent to you or your Country Partner.
  6. You must visit a U.S. Consulate or Embassy in your country to obtain an entry visa to the United States. The visa application process can take 4-6 weeks.
  7. After you receive your entry visa, you will work with your Country Partner or MAST to plan your travel to the U.S.
